At least once per week, Bethany and I take a “walk to the pond”. We follow a trail through the fields to sit on a bench together, like old people. I took this photo on one of our walks a few weeks ago. Common Gaillardia, not so common in my opinion. Beautiful! And look at that little guy hiding from the sparrows! Pretty effective, I almost missed him.
Apparently, “Moths are iconic examples of camouflage. Their wing coloration and patterns are shaped by natural selection to match the patterns of natural substrates, such as a tree bark or leaves, on which the moths rest.” (according to Science Daily) Who knew?
Everywhere, in every cell, if you pay attention you see that life adapts. Life adjusts and finds a way. Life doesn’t seem to be “struggling to survive”, it seems to be singing. “Bring me winters and bring me hurricanes, I will emerge again and flourish”, Life sings.
“Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.” – Jesus
When was the last time you “considered” a wild flower? It’s worth slowing down to notice one. They pop up in the most unlikely places. We’ll be noticing them at least once a month here on Beautiful and True.
