I love you

In half-inch hops
a bird in the grass
chirps, I love you

Cinnamon morning
swirls, coffee steam
curls, in gentle assent
I love you

A light of dawn slips against
each leafy thing, unfurls
one tremulous dewdrop, holds
a symphony as the maestro

Falls to birth our floral chorus
song sweeter than a lily bend
no softer can a river wend
or break the strength of oceans
My notes to you, become awake
I love you

I
invite you rise to take your place
aside the bird and lily, turn
your face upon our star afire
Love
in skin, the marks you wear
forgive the pain and find desire
You
in rinse of time
sing your verse in turn to them
being equally amazed
